Floatation Kit

Added deck support for uneven terrain

An extra front and back tire can be added to the centre section of the mower deck.

AcrEase finish-cut mower floatation kit with centre front and rear tires installed for added deck support
Floatation Kit clamping-style receiver enabling side-to-side adjustment on the mower deck
Floatation Kit in use near a pond edge to reduce scalping on uneven ground
  • Rough uneven ground where added floatation is needed
  • Hard to reach areas at the waters edge around ponds
  • Extending over a creek banks edge
  • Steep road banks where added traction is needed
  • Gradual crowned or peaked areas in a yard

Lawn & Garden Hitching

Lawn & Garden Hitching further example
  • Allows for close hitching of the AcrEase and telescopes in or out to adjust for the tow vehicles deck width
  • Provides a maneuverable quick response system with maximum stability at high mowing speeds and on steep banks
  • When pulling one wing mower use the tow vehicle hitch (telescope hitch) and short tongue.
  • When pulling multiple wing mowers it is necessary to purchase additional hitching.
  • The long tongue extension is used when two AcrEase are pulled (one on the left and one on the right). By extending the left side AcrEase back, grass will not be blown onto the right side AcrEase.
  • The rear hitch is used for hitching two AcrEase in tandem (both off to the left side).

ATV Tongue

Offset or direct-behind towing for utility vehicles

Use on ATVs, utility vehicles, and other tow vehicles without mowing decks.

ATV Tongue overview
  • The ATV tongue hitches directly to the tow vehicles’ existing hitch with a provided clevis pin.
  • Quick and easy initial installation
  • The ATV tongue can be quickly interchanged from the offset position to direct behind towing.
  • Quick response maneuverability and stability at high mowing speeds and on steep banks may be reduced slightly.
  • Multiple mowers can be pulled with an ATV or UTV by using a combination of Lawn & Garden and ATV Tongue hitching.

Product Information & Frequently Asked Questions

Overview & Use
1. What is an AcrEase Finish Cut Mower?
A self-contained wing mower designed to run offset beside a lawn/garden tractor or ZTR (single left, right, tandem), and towable behind an ATV/UTV with the optional ATV Tongue.
2. What can be used to pull an AcrEase Finish Cut Mower?
Lawn & garden tractors, small tractors, front/mid-mount ZTRs, ATVs, and utility vehicles.
3. How big of a tow vehicle is required?
Plan for ~1–1.5 HP of tow vehicle per mower. Small 10 HP tractors can handle gradual slopes; steeper slopes call for heavier tractors for traction. If unstable for a tractor, an ATV may be viable.
Slopes & Stability
4. How steep of a slope can it be used on?
Tandem towing: avoid slopes > 15° (rear unit can pull the front sideways). Side-attached units are stable beyond 15°. Engine limits: B&S Professional/Intek/PowerBuilt ≤ 20°; Kohler & B&S Commercial Turf ≤ 25°. Most tow vehicles become unstable after 20–25°. Slopes often look steeper than they are—use caution.
Design & Operation
5. Why does the deck pull at an angle?
The two 20″ blades are inline and intentionally not timed. A slight tow angle ensures proper blade overlap without timing mechanisms.
6. How easy is it to mow with an AcrEase?
Very. The offset wing adds near ZTR-like maneuverability in the wing’s direction, easing work around trees, low branches, and buildings.
7. How fast will it mow?
Typical good cut at 6–10 MPH; some users report 12–15 MPH, but cut quality usually drops past ~10 MPH. Blade tip speed ≈ 17,500 fpm; deep deck + large side discharge enable high capacity.
8. Do AcrEase mowers scalp?
Four front and two rear anti-scalp wheels under the deck minimize scalping. Deck flexes over uneven ground. Optional Floatation Kit adds center tires for rough banks and pond edges.
Productivity
9. How much time can be saved?
Example: add a 60″ wing (58″ cut; ~7″ overlap) to a 48″ tractor deck → ~99″ total cut. A 3-hour yard can drop to ~1 hour. Add a second wing to reach ~150″ total.
Safety & Compliance
10. Is it safe?
While no voluntary standard covers pull-behind wings, AcrEase units have passed the OPEI Lawn Mower Safety Test. Added safety zones front/rear keep blades away from outer panels; discharge chute is fixed (can’t be flipped up). Anti-scalp wheels sit in the safety zones.
Parts & Support
11. How available are parts?
Many components are standard (bearings, belts, tires) and can be sourced locally. Non-standard parts are available through Kunz Engineering or local AcrEase dealers.
Handling & Hitching
12. Why doesn’t it trail directly behind the tow vehicle?
Fixed rear tires set the tow angle; front casters and the short-coupled hitch give agility and maneuverability.
Power & Electrical
13. Do the mowers need a battery?
Units use electric-start engines and include a battery box; battery not included. Owner’s Manual provides guidance on suitable dry-cell batteries.
Serviceability
14. How easy is it to service an AcrEase?
Tip the mower vertically onto front casters to access blades and inspection points. Standard models can be tipped by hand with assistance; Pro60K requires an overhead winch for rear lift.
Modifications
15. Can it be pushed in front of a vehicle?
Some users do, but brackets are not provided. Front-mount mowers on ATVs are typically cumbersome. Best practice: tow offset behind so you can mow around obstacles while maintaining visibility. If pushing with non-ATV equipment, casters can be fitted at all four corners.
